Hello Everyone!

Well my Husband and I have made the decision that we want to move to Canada. He is an electrician and i'm a medical secretary. We have enough points to get in. Though i am now aware this can take along time.
To be totally honest I dont know where to start, my head is swirling with all the information. It seem he would be better to seek a job first! We were thinking of Alberta or British Columbia but are there jobs for electricians there??
help please, where do we start?
thanks Laura x

Go to the following to learn how to begin the process. There's lots of information on it.

While our economy is taking a hit, like the rest of the world, electricians are always in demand so getting a job will probably be a good deal easier than some other job categories.

Hi Laura,
Electricians are also on the the list of in demand occupations that the Canadians have prioritized, so, if you meet the 67 point pass mark too, you are well positioned to put in a Permanent Residence application. You can see the list of occupations here.

It might take a few months longer to get here via this route but it has the up-side of removing uncertainty about your right to stay in Canada if, say, your husband came here on a Temporary Work Permit and then lost his job.
As for Medical Secretaries, you might want to keep track of the Calgary Health Region job site...

Just looked now and there are at least 5 Medical Secretary positions going. You may be able to find similar websites for other areas of interest elsewhere in Alberta or BC.
You'll find all the help you need on this forum. Best wishes with making the move across in due course.
