Hi BritishExpats.com
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this website, already I have discovered the answers to many questions. So I thought I would register and introduce myself.
My name is Eamonn and I currently live in the north of England.
I'm 33 and earlier this year I seperated from my wife (no kids). I have a good job, a house and a nice car. Doesn't sound so bad hey?
Well I think I am at a crossroads now, I'm pretty bored with life and feel that if I dont act soon I'll will have passed up any opportunity to experience life. As is stands now I have no ties (other than my family and friends of course
)
My brother and his Wife left the UK a couple of years ago and live and work in South Africa. They have a great life and have never regretted it.
So a few weeks ago I made the decision to investigate emigrating to either Australia or Canada. I'm still very in the early stage of researching such a move, which is why I've found this site.
So hello to you all, I'll be sure to post a few questions on the main boards.
Eamonn.

Welcome to the site, where in Yorkshire are you? There's lots to learn about emigration so all the best with your research. Start by looking through the official CIC site to see the different programmes/options open to you:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html
...and then once you've got some understanding you'll be able to ask more specific questions via this forum and also look back at previous threads for info. Also as you are 33 then assuming you're a British passport holder you'll still be eligible for the BUNAC scheme:
http://www.bunac.org.uk/uk/workcanada/
...which allows you to spend up to a year living and working in Canada on an open work authorisation, a great way to experience life in Canada and see if it's really for you, rather than just the odd week here and there on holiday which gives a more limited impression to go by. Bear in mind that the upper age limit is 35 though, and you have to apply and enter Canada before you are 36. The non-student visa quota runs out early each year, the 2007 programme opened at the start of December and to give you some idea, last year the visas were all gone by March, so that's something to bear in mind.
All the best :-)

Thanks Adele!!
That might be just what I am looking for. Its a big step giving up an established life in the UK. A year out using this scheme sounds like a great idea. I'll look into it.
Thanks again.
Oh I am from a town near York.
How about you?
Eamonn
