Hi Smithy and welcome. Hopefully you will be able to find out quite a lot of information on this site (without too many rude replies - they know who I mean!!).

The answers to most questions can be found by doing a search, but do feel free to ask. We have all been there and know what its like.

Good luck with the whole experience.

Hi Smithy

Skilled tradespeople are desperately in need over there - why don't you look at getting a work permit or perhaps the provincial nominee programme? Both are significally quicker. Hubby contacted companies out there, explained the situation to them and they sponsored him on a work permit. Took 16 weeks for the approval to come through then we had to apply for the actual permit 3 weeks ago and we're just waiting for that - hopefully no more than another week - then we're going to apply for permanent residency or PNP when we're out there.

Good luck and if you're head's frying how about doing an egg and bacon on it - that way at least you'll have something nice to eat at the same time :D

If I can be of any help just holler
Ki

Hi Ki76,
Thanks for the advice and im going to look into that.I didn't realise that was an option. Is your hubby a tradesman and if so does he have to sit a trade test prior to beginning work?

You're welcome. Hubby didn't have to take a test cos of his trade - but if you've got any doubts ask someone here, they may know... what's your trade?

Probably will then because it's all different - look on the web for the governing body over there which may be able to tell you about taking the test before you apply for a work permit - a good excuse to visit Canada at the same time LOL
