After a week's absence due to the computer conking out and Darren not being able to fix it till we got some discs out of the container (which arrived Friday
) I am back on-line!
Been here a week now. Met Gaynor at Manchester airport - I had all our hand luggage spread out on the floor trying to transfer stuff from our overweight hand luggage into our overweight hold baggage, just so the not-very-helpful check-in man could charge me more excess baggage. She guessed it was me! So that was really nice to meet her at last! We also met the Roos family at the airport as well.
When we arrived at Calgary Gaynor and I went together to Customs clutching our Goods to Follow lists which we had slaved over for hours. They took one look at them and said that as we were on Work Permits we did not need B4 forms and they just waved us through.
We have had a really busy week. On Tuesday Darren went up to the Customs place near the airport to see them about our container. They did not ask to open it or check anything and it was delivered Friday so we have spent all weekend completely surrounded by boxes and packing paper (they must have used an entire forest full of paper to wrap things, but at least it means that everything we have unpacked so far has arrived in one piece
)
This morning we sat out on the balcony in the sunshine eating our breakfast thinking "this is the life!" So everything is going very well so far!
