Just a question...I suffered from pretty bad hayfever in England, but I don't recall suffering as a kid in Canada, although I clearly remember rolling around in fields/empty lots. Has anyone found that their seasonal allergies have changed/gotten better/worse since moving to Canada?

My hayfever was pretty bad in UK but I hardly noticed it here last summer

My hubs hayfever in the UK was very bad, every summer.
He still gets it here, but not as bad, and didn't seem to last as long.

Same here. I used to suffer quite badly at the start of summer - now have no problems at all!

I suffered really badly in th UK but don't get even the slightest sniffle here!

My hubby used to get hayfever in the uk now I think he has snow mould fever (when the snow starts to melt) - I know several people that suffer from this. I never used to get hayfever but now get some sniffles - could just be a summer cold tho'.

I suffered bad in the UK but even worse here last May with all the tree pollen.... but thats because we are out in the country side with loads of trees around us!!

And there was me thinking all the responses have been positive ...........

I was totally miserable from May until August with that dreaded hayfever in Scotland, popping pills and snorting nasal sprays all day !!!

When we were here in July 05 for a month I didn't have any symptoms at all

Waiting until summer here in Canada just now to see what happens with my hayfever, hopefully it wont be as bad as Scotland, if any symptoms occur at all.

Had hayfever for years always took pills etc, first summer here last year ,nothing gone completely fingers crossed.

Dunno why but matt's asthma improves no end whenever where in AB for more than a couple of weeks?

My youngest had mild Asthma in the UK using an inhaler twice a day. he's used it once in the last nine months that we've been in Canada. No idea if its the same for hayfever however.....

It'll just depend on what type of pollen you’re sensitive too and what the local sources of pollen are…
If it’s a grass pollen and you choose to live in the prairies ?
Or tree pollen and you choose to live the Algonquin area ?

No allergies but I noticed that when I caught colds in England then always settled in my lungs. Two fellow Canuck friends in England experienced the same thing... coughy, phelmy, wheezy, chesty colds like we've never had in Canada - all of us from BC.

I've got an appointment with an allergist in Burlington next week, I guess I'll find out one way or the other if I should expect to have problems later in the year!
