Have you got a temp work permit?

thanks for replies
Do you know whether the holder of the spousal permit must also get a job they apply for approved by HRSDC (& if so, if it's just a rubber stamp exercise or a proper 'can this be done by a Canadian' check?) or whether they can just get any job?

Hi
My hubby's job offer is in the Oil/Gas Industry in Alberta. I know they are crying out for people, but they still tell us that there is a 12 week backlog and they get to them in the order that they are received. This is what we were told by a lady who works in HRSDC Edmonton.

However if your one of the rarer disaster/emergancy types with knowledge of big gas/oil fires then you many find it'll only be an afternoon before HRSDC passes it

Hi
I got a job in March 2006 and am still waiting lol!!, they do asure me that it will not be too much longer, however they seem to have got the paperwork mixed up for mine and it was originally sent to Ontario on the wrong format., so Ontario would not accept it and sent it back to London who has to re submit it again.
Hopefully soon though lol, good luck

My hubbie got an email from a firm in Edmonton on Friday saying they would be happy to sponsor him. And about getting a work permit and stuff. Hubbie phoned him yesterday but the guy didnt seem to know that much about the process and said we would need to sort the paperwork. I emailed him yest with some internet links and stuff and told him he needs to clear it through HR first (which I think is correct?!?!) Aint heard owt else from him yet... hope he still wants to go ahead with it. Not sure what to do as we need to sell our house and stuff. Dont want selling house to hold us up but also dont wanna be hasty, sell house and have nowhere to live!!!

Spouse is usually given an "open" work permit at the same time
Don't know what you mean here - work permit entitles you to reside albeit on a temporary basis
Hope this has helped
