Can i just check that my understanding is correct for Applying as a Skilled Worker please.....
If we apply through the Skilled worker route and Plumber is still on the list, my OH does not need an AEO and the process will be approx 1-2 years.
If we apply through the skilled worker route and plumber is not on the list, my OH does need an AEO and the process will take 4+ years.
Where does an LMO fit in? Does it with the Skilled worker route?
Anyone has seen my previous thread - if the above is correct - keep your fingers crossed for Plumber still being on the list when my OH has got enough work experience!!!!!!
Thanks

If the plumber is not on the list you need the AEO and that has to have an LMO for it to be worth anything. I think if you have the LMO that it should be somewhat quicker than 4 years.
Anyway fingers crossed for you that Plumber stays on the list.

You've almost got it right - the processing time for either route (i.e. job on list of 38, or with job offer) is the same, 6-12 months.
It used to take 4 years, but now they've introduced the new system all applications are allegedly going to be processed within a year (I only say 'allegedly' because nobody has yet gone through the complete process!).
The LMO is required for a Temporary Work Permit - it's not needed for Skilled Worker applications. So you wouldn't need one of those at all if going via the SW route.
So if he qualifies as a plumber and has at least a years experience in that job, then you could apply (assuming he meets the other criteria as well i.e. has the requisite points, minimum funds, passes the medical, no criminal record etc) and hopefully it would be quite quick.
So fingers crossed plumbers stay on the list!

thats great! So either way it shouldn't take 4 years!! This was my main concern as we didn't want to wait for our little boy to older than necessary. Big change for him!
Feeling a bit more optimistic now!
Thanks guys

I was under the impression that with an LMO you could then move over on TWP?
I have been informed by potential employers that it could be as quick as 3 months! so long as the rest of the criteria is completed!

Totally understand what you are saying regarding your little boys age,
I don't want to keep coming across as a killjoy, I just want you to realise that when I stated 4 years in your previous thread I was talking about 4 years of work related experience would be needed for your OH to be able to work legally as a plumber in Canada, you could be in Canada as quick as 3 months on a TWP but your OH is unlikely to get one without his redseal license as he doesn't have the experience to qualify, however if he could get A TWP as an apprentice plumber then you could be in without the license.
I'm pretty sure all this is true, if not then I apologise for sticking my nose in, just didn't want you to get to Canada and find out your OH couldnt take his redseal due to lack of experience.
Good Luck

Completely understand what you are saying and agree with you - what i meant before was that we will now wait for the oh to get his experience and then we can apply through the sw route. This means that we still only have to wait 3/4 years instead of 8! We were always going to give it a couple of years before we applied anyway but knowing that we have both the twp and sw route to consider now makes me feel alot more comfortable. Does this make sense?!

Really appreciate all your advice.
Thanks

Yep, got ya, didn't realise you thought you would need 4 years to immigrate as a skilled worker. I'm in a similar situation albeit as an Electrician but hopefully my experience is enough, if not I may have to wait a little longer. As someone told me, the way things are in Canada workwise are nowhere near as bad as here but they advised me not to move without a job to go to if I already had a job here, however if things get any worse over here it might not make any difference.

Perhaps I have miss read but I thought you required 2 yr minimum work experience (not including any training) then you could apply for a job then once you have a job you receive an LMO then move over on TWP?
Is it not the same for a Plumber?
Have you considered moving over with your self in full time education your husband then finds employment as a apprentice plumber and then applies for TWP - I think this is possible - Can any one share their view?

My husband needs to have approx 3/4 years of work experience to be registered on the Red Seal program but he doesnt become qualify until the end of this year - that is why we have to wait, otherwise i would be applying already.....

A study permit is a possibility if the OP can raise the funds for tuition though.
