Default Has anyone ever seen a 2-dimensional bag?

I was just trying to see what the restrictions on hand luggage from Pearson Airport are. Have Canadians invented a 2-dimensional bag that I never heard of???

"Baggage Restrictions
All carry-on baggage must fit safely under aircraft seats, or in overhead bins. The acceptable size is determined by the type of aircraft, so please check with your air carrier or travel agent. Bags may be carried on board some aircraft, but must be soft-sided and no larger than 112.5 cm by 11.25 cm (45 inches by 4.5 inches). "

By contrast, BA tells me I can take the following when flying out of any UK airport, but it does not tell me if it would apply on the way back:

"one standard-sized bag - maximum size of the bag must not exceed 56x45x25cm (22x17.5x9.85in) (including wheels, pockets and handles)"

Hmmm.... anyone had an experience with this and can either tell me:

1. Where to find a Canadian 2-dimensional bag? ; or

2. Whether they had any problems trying to take a bag meeting BA specifications back to the UK?

Well it really was only a matter of time before the airline industry started making things up they already charge tax rates that I swear don't even exist.

I think this is license for an infinitely wide bag.

Could you provide a link to the website that stated the above, please?

I found this link that stated:

Baggage

Hand baggage must fit safely under aircraft seats, or in overhead bins. The acceptable size is determined by the type of aircraft so please check with your airline or travel agent.

Garment bags may be carried on board some aircrafts [sic], but must be soft sided and no larger than: length 112.5cm (45 inches), depth 11.25 cm (4.5 inches).

Suitcases: passengers are generally allowed two suitcases each with an average weight of 32kg (70 lbs) per bag. Please check with your airline or travel agent when purchasing your ticket.

I found the first bit of info on the GTAA website.

http://www.gtaa.com/en/travellers/connecting/baggage/

The second bit of info was on the BA website:

No offence but the GTAA run the airport and not very well at that from what I understand.

I wouldn't put much stock in anything they say about baggage.

Ahhh, but see this is the small issue. When I flew out of Heathrow last time, the airline (BA) was happy for me to take my small wheely suitcase on board. It was apparently due to BAA restrictions that I was stopped on my way through security. My bag was less than 0.5 cm over the limit, due to a larger wheel. I was marched all the way back to the BA desk and watched by a BAA employee while I checked the bag in!

Funny thing was, once we were through security we saw tons of people with bigger carry-ons than mine

Anyway, that's why I checked the GTAA website. I know BA will let it through, I just don't want another fiasco like at Heathrow.
