Don't really know Hammonds Plains very well but one of the downsides is the Hammonds Plains road which can be a bit of a nightmare especially in the winter. Sorry can't commet on the schools in both areas as I don't have children so don't really pay any attention to talk about schools.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but wanted to ask if you had been to the bakery in Stewiacke? They have some really great black and white squares which are to die for. I'm addicted.

I can't speak for Fall River, I live at the other end of Hammond's Plains Rd near St Margaret's Bay. The schools are good, we are very pleased with our kids elementary school, junior and senior High schools seem good too. I work just a bit further up the Bedford Highway from Kempt Rd. There are various routes in depending on where you are on the Hammond's Plain Rd. If you are near the 103 then exit 5 into Joe Howe is a quick way to Kempt. If you are nearer Bedford then Kearney Lake Rd, Dumbreck, is a quick route in. Bedford Highway inbound from Fall River/Bedford always seems to be busy when I view it from my office window. I vary my routes depending on weather conditions, construction and whatever mood I am in. If I take route 3, or Hammond's Plains/Kearney Lake the journey from St Margaret's Bay to Bedford Highway takes approx 30 minutes door to door. Taking the 103 cuts it down to 20 mins, but is a bit more boring scenery wise. Not working in downtown Halifax makes for an easy commute.

I live in Fall River and travel down Kempt on a regular basis. At worst it takes 25 mins, at best 20! I take the 118 and the MacKay bridge, avoid the 102 and the Bedford highway at all costs from Fall River. It used to take longer to travel from Bedford downtown than it does now from Fall River.
