Default Hammersmith to Halifax

Hello all,

We're moving from London (the real one) to Halifax NS in June this year - and quite frankly we can't wait!

My better half is a Dartmouth native, so I'm now a "PR" under her common-law spousal sponsorship. All in, the visa application took us about two years due to various complications (!), but now the clock is ticking

I love what I've seen on this site so far - the jobs/moving wikis are a gold-mine of brit-canadian expertise... Canada here we come.

Welcome,

We are moving to NS as soon as we sell our house. I would like to think that we will be there by June too.

Anyway, I hope that the move goes smoothly for you.

Well that sounds great, is your wife from Dartmouth? We used to live in Woodlawn! I bet she can't wait to get back to her old roots and you to make some new roots! Have you got jobs lined up or just starting to look?

Just starting to look - she (who will only officially be "the wife" after August this year!), is a physio and has some contacts in a few practices. The good news (at least for her) is that people keep getting injured even when there's an economic slowdown. I'm in IT consulting, so am just sending out feelers at the moment... might be time to take up plumbing given the current doom and gloom surrounding the forums!

Also, you are so right about the roots! I think the homing instinct present in Nova Scotians (and Haligonians in particular) would rival any of those found in the animal kingdom.

They all come back to roost! In your case it sounds like she is coming home to get married! Nice!

Now that sounds promising. Nothing much in the consulting field on their website, but perhaps it's more about who-you-know than how strong your google skills are.

@or4ngecrush - what are your plans for work? I guess if you're departure is imminient you've been plotting for a while...
