Halifax Blue Nose Marathon
#1
This is always such a fantastic long weekend in Halifax (it's Victoria Day on Monday) as over 12,000 walkers and runners, supported by nearly a 1000 volunteers take to the streets of Halifax and Dartmouth for The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon. With the largest youth run in Canada and the largest ‘marathon’ weekend east of Ottawa, it's always a fantastic turnout.
My wife and I are not runners but our kids love the Youth Run - it's so well organised and a fun way to introduce kids to running. Last year was a scorcher, this year the forecast is much cooler - probably better running conditions?

Two of our friends here in New Glasgow are runners and no doubt will be there. We actually lived a mile apart back in Aberdeenshire, never knew each other and even have a few mutual friends!.
Although he lives in New Glasgow, my friend is an engineer at the Halifax shipyards. He also entered his first Ironman last summer on Canada Day (how hot was that!) at the age of 49 and did exceptionally well. You may even actually know him if you are a member of a running group and attend most runs. I will pm you his name.
I have attached a link for our local New Glasgow races, the biggest being the Johnny Miles on June 16th http://www.atlanticchip.ca/events/details.php?show=944
