Default Halifax

Hi,

Might have to move to the Halifax area with work in the new year. Can anyone suggest where to start looking for property. Like the idea of a good family neighborhood with easy access to the normal facilities.

Would appreciate any responses.

Preston.....no only kidding.
Depends on whether you are working in Halifax or Dartmouth. How far do you want to travel. There are lots of nice areas around depending on those factors.

Why don't you try Bedford or if you want further out try St Margarets Bay. It seems all the Brits coming to this area are all going to Fall River. So if you are comfortable with that have alook on MLS and see what you like. Have alook at Kingswood or Porters Lake. Do you want small town or the city atmosphere?

We have friends who live in Beaverbank which is out past Bedford/Sackville. Seems like a nice area & affordable. They have a big Bungalow on an acre of land. Drive into Halifax at rush hour is 60 mins or so depending on where you are going downtown.

(Thats the sum of my knowledge on the subject other than saying that I would want to live on the waterside of the North Western arm in Halifax but I lack the requisite millions to do so! )

Hi
We live in Fall River[25 mins from Halifax]
Your choice does depend a lot on what type of property etc u want/budget etc.

Some really good up and coming areas around Kingswood[as Corky said]
Also Porter's lake is scenic and relatively easy to commute.

It is odd that some of these areas are called rural, yet they are very close to all amenities.......I believe it is something to do with the lot sizes .You can still purchase over 1.5 acres relatively easily in these areas whereas the closer you get to downtown the more difficult this becomes.
