Half of us has landed
#1
Just thought I would let you guys know that OH has now landed on Canadian soil.
Phil flew Zoom Gatwick to Calgary via Glasgow and seems to have had a good flight (just spoke to him courtesy of my cousin
)
Was due to land at 3.35 local and made it in by 3:15
Everything went swimmingly infact the pilot took longer parking the plane than immigration took
Didn't even need a goods to follow list for customs due to the fact that I am following afterwards.
My hubby is now a proud owner of a 3 year Work Permit - more than enough time for us to secure PR
Very happy Gaynor
ps - will probably come crashing down to earth tomorrow at 3000 miles per hour when I realise that this is NOT a Dream

One step closer for you guys, hang on in there.
I was in the same position as you a month ago and that went so quickly.
It will be worth it in the end, as most will tell you.
Get your OH to send you a copy of his WP for you to have when you land, as this will speed things up for you as you will be granted in line with him. Also a copy of his job offer letter and marriage certificate. I had the marriage cert but forgot the other two like a dumb ass

Congrats, such a great feeling (maybe not as hubby not there)..
We also got in 15mins faster than said, and the time took by immigration was shorter than getting a bank account
Glad every thing is working out well for you both.

Hi Gaynor
Glad hubby arrived safe and sound. Wow he was lucky with the three year work permit.....was that stipulated on his LMO??
It will be long....and you will be there too.
Take care

We too got a 3 year permits, um er, all except Mr Yes-can-do (the one with the job). His passport expires June 2008 so his WP only runs til then.
Anyone entering on a permit, please make sure you have several years left on your passport

The immigration lawyer put a letter together for when Phil got to immigration setting out the grounds for employing a foreign worker and what fab knowledge he would bring over to Canada. They ended the letter by requesting that immigration issue WP for 3 years and he got it !!!
This means that I can now go up for sale - as was advised by the lawyer not to do anything until we had everything in our hands.
Very Strange tho only cooking for 3 - keep getting a plate out for phil

Hiya Gaynor
Glad your Hubby landed safe and well. Sounds like everyone survived the drive back to Manchester
Hope all goes well with your house sale. My hubby has just had to sell our current house and buy our new house in Calgary on his own as all the action happened whilest I was on vacation!!!!!! Not a great experience but at least it kept him busy
Before you know it you will be reunited and wondering where the year went.
Best Wishes
