Latest on ours is that the people buying it have agreed to nt getting a full survey done, because it would achieve pretty much nothing, and would cost them £700 or so. Instead, we are going to get a damp specialist in next week and see what that turns up. If it's not to much, we'd be happy to sort out the work once we have exchanged contacts, or knock a little bit off the asking price. It might even be something covered by the guarantee we got when we had a new damp proof course added four and a half years ago.
Anyway, the old peole buiying the house have told the estate agent that they want the house and advised them not to listen to the son and daughter in law. I am feeling a bit more positive today!
Good luck with yours, sandyback. If the report says your house may contain asbestos, it seems that the surveyor is simply trying to cover his back. Will you have to get an asbestos person in to check?

Rhodes dont give up, it will sort itself out
I hated the English sytem of house buying.
Me and her indoors lived in Birmingham, well Dudley to be precise, for 5 years and bought property there in 1987, before the big house boom. The system down there sucks, buyers can pull out right up until they sign the contracts, gazumping galore.
Anyway the Scottish system is fairer, you view a house, agree a price with seller, put in an offer and thats it, a legally binding contact, Bobs your uncle.
At least no-one can come in and outbid you and the buyer cannot pull out of sale.
Keep yer pecker up as it will work out for you in the end, and before you know it you will be on your merry way to CANADA !!!!
