hi guys,
I've been lurking on here for a few weeks, Mums just returned from Calgary and told me of the the lovely places she visited. Just reading up on the country has made me think of a possible move to Vancouver area.
I think i need to do a big bit of saving on the next few years for me and my son and wouldnt contemplate moving till he's older 13/14, but my main query would be job oppertunities in my field. I retrained around 6 years ago, graduated and have worked in health demonstration projects since graduation. I have worked in community development field within health, managed a team of 8 community workers and worked on a health coaching programme on a one to one basis. I am also a trained fitness instructor. (aerobics, aqua, step, spin, body attack, buggy fit etc etc).
I currently have a full time job within the health project and work part time at night teaching fitness, earning about £30K pa. Would there be oppertunity to work in a similar field, i know the health care system is different and theres no NHS.
Anyone any advice on where to start?
cheers
Laura

What makes you say that??? Every province has a system thats remarkable similar to the NHS.
BEst place to start is the cic website to see if you are going to qualify to come to canada first, and then look at the waiting times to see whether its worth it. If its still a go, come for a visit and then get your application in as soon as possible so he is 13/14 and not 16/17 by the time you get permission to come.
Otherwise you could try and come on a work permit or under a provincial nomination, but my first guess is it will be hard to prove a lack of local candidates.
Good Luck

thanks for the reply.
My current job comes under skill type B, and yeh i plan to visit later in the year and find out about the health project / promotion field, any oppertunities or possibilities. Didn't know the healthcare system is very similar to nhs, think i got a bit of research to do.
