Thanks for your support in this group. I got letter today that my papers are okay and I have to reach before Oct-02.

I am from India and applied through Colombo- indepent catagory.

My time line,

Mid Feb-2001- AOR

Interview - Oct-2001,

Medical- final done- first week of April.

Today I got call that my application is through.

I am thankful to Mr. Andrew who replied to all my posts.

Now final stage has started, donot know what to do!!

I am a chemical engineer and in the field of marketing for last 15 yrs.

Due to long waiting for six months after medicals,
last month I decided that I will start my own business in India and now today I got letter saying my PR okay, so I am really confused, what to do!!

After reading most of negative mails, I am really worried. Most of the software gurus + engineers are struggling to get even part time job.

This situation has really upset my programe.

Hope your positive mail can change my decision!!!

V, If you come, come with the readiness for a long struggle. If you are ready to "do
anything", earning a living won't be a problem, but it will take you really long, if
at all, to start working as a chemical engineer, unless you are among a lucky few, or
get a good break in marketing. Career should be the last thing on the mind of an
immigrant to Canada. If you are coming to enjoy the lifestyle of a country rated
among the best in the world, that is what you'll get. Nothing more, for now!

Dear Karen,

Could you pls share your experience with us! Is your marketing experince related to
your qualification-Chemical Engineer? What questions were asked in the interview?

Actually i am computer engineer with experince in marketing.So i am not sure how the
immigration people will consider my application?

First of all congradulations.

I applied in June 2001. They have sent me a letter saying await interview letter. So I guess my interview is close.

Could you please tell me how was your interview ?

Were they pleasant and friendly ?

How long was the interview ?

Congratulations for those who got it..........and best of luck for those who are
waiting for it. I applied in COLOMBO and recieved AOR dated April 10, 2001, and no
communications so far.

Cellp: Yes my marketing experience is in the process industries and related to my chemical engineering. So my suggestion is if your experience is in marketing then no harm mentioning the reality. Frankly speaking if you speak truth then it will help you 100%. Be open during interview and write what ever your real views, which make your case stronger.

Santosh & Rajith: My Interview lasted for 2 hrs and during that time they took my english test by giving test paper + my writing test in my engg field + Personal interview.
They were very polite. Normally this kind of interview makes nervous anybody but if you are confident and prepared, then you will have maximum chance.

Officer was very good and they told me to imrove my english and I confessed that my english is really poor because I studied in local langauge and I am trying to improve daily.

So finally if remembered " IF YOU DREAM IT , YOU CAN DO IT"........Walt disney.

My dream come true but its slight late ,I am in two mind.......to go or not.
