ARRRRRGGHHH !!!!!!!!!!
Got request for medicals yesterday, was taken totally by suprise by this.
Things have really sped up since we moved here in September on work permit
I would advise anyone to try and get themselves a job here, enter Canada on a valid work permit and your application will shoot to the top of the pile
My timeline is on my signature so you can judge for yourselves
MMM I reckon we could have our PR visas within a few months, cutting years off the normal processing avenues.

Congratulations!
Our timeline is very similar to yours - we got AOR in June '05, then moved to BC in Sept '05 with 3yr work permits being issued in Dec '05.
Our immigration lawyer was hoping to speed up the PR process as a result of our work permit, the business we set up and the employees we now have, but apparently he can't raise a reply out of Canadian immigration in London, so we're no further forward and just assuming that PR will get processed before having to worry about re-newal of work permits (24 mths from now).
Did you do anything in particular to expedite the process once you were here on a WP?

All I did was to change my address, from my old one in the UK to my address here in Canada, you can do that online.
CIC London then requested updated full application forms showing my new status here in Canada, they also wanted updated UK police certificates, copies of my work permit, copies of salary stubs and a letter from my employer saying they have offered me full time employment.
These were sent to London in December and now into the new year and medicals have been issued

Good luck with your medicals Eddie
Don't want to burst anyones bubbles - it didn't speed our process up one iota, we still got the delay letter and it all took longer than originally quoted - however our immigration specialists have just posted back our passports complete with shiney new PR visa's. We had medicals in August (with some hiccups that needed looking at) just to give you an idea how long it all takes from there.
