Hi everyone.
After some advice. We received our Canadian Visas last week and after a very informal job interview, my husband has today been offered an Accounting job in Halifax. The package is a good one - just one hitch, he would need to start in 3 weeks time
He thinks this is a great opportunity and is really keen, but is it possible?? What happens when you land - would we all have to land as a family unit and then me and the kids fly back to the UK ( I was principal applicant on the skilled worker application). Would I have to wait for my PR card to reenter the country at a later date.
We were initially planning on flying out the beginning of May which would have given us time to tie up all the loose ends and sell our house. I am now in a state of panic and wondering if this really is feasible.
Your advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

I would get out there and validate your visa - sort out a rental and leave OH to start his job. You come back and sort house out.
Think it is possible - you just have to believe it is

Hi
Again no expert but from having read previous threads I agree with what has been stated as principal applicant you have to go with (or before) hubbie. You can stay for a couple of days apply for your SIN card etc and so long as you have a postal address these will be sent to you - hubbie can then courier them over to you.
Seemingly you need your PR card to get back into Canada or you need to apply for a travel document from London which I believe costs about $50.
Don't lose the chance of a good job - it also gives you an few days if not longer in Canada
We fly out this weekend for 3 weeks and are looking at NB or NS - will all come down to jobs, houses etc - wish we were in your predicament and able to go now!!
Hope I got this right!!

Im trying to leave this forum, really I am, but when I see this sort of uninformed misinformation its really hard to turn my back.
Nevermind what the CIC site says, the reality on the ground is that as a UK citizen you dont need a PR card to return to Canada, much less a travel document to travel back to Canada, so no, you would not have to wait for the PR card to be sent on to you in the UK in order to return again to Canada after you land and do a U turn.
Also, you dont even have to give an address when you land for them to send the PR card to, you can inform them later on (within 6 months) through the website or 800 number, once you have semi permanent accomodation arranged. As you really dont need it to travel anyway, there is no harm in waiting. The only exception I know of where a PR card is usefull is that of PRs traveling to Mexico on business get some sort of preferential visa, which UK citizens would not.
The PR card really only matters if you are not from one of the countries on the visa waiver list, and exists primarily so untrained airline staff can weed out those who are going to be turned away from Canada upon attempted entry. Your UK PP is enough to get on the flight...anything else can be dealt with by immigration once you reach that point, its a technicality that can be sorted out with your long form landing paper and their database. The PR card streamlines things, and would be essential in order to get that far for some nationalalities, but as a Brit its not. Dont worry about it.
Him starting in 3 weeks should be no problem, good luck to you all.
