Calgary does that ... our highs were 22C last week, by yesterday the high was -6C!!

Our weather is controlled by the jetstream ... when it blows south of Calgary, it gets suddenly cold ... when it blows north, it gets warm ... it's just like a giant switch being flicked.

I watched the "Day After Tomorrow" last night ... apart from people freezing on the spot, it didn't look much different from winter in Calgary ... we had ice just like that inside our windows frames this morning :D

I've just stopped wearing shorts and I haven't started wearing gloves or a hat yet ... no point until it gets below -10C.

The UPS guys run a competition here ... who can wear shorts for the longest time possible ... you see them wearing shorts way below -20C.

You see them all weathers ... I spend the minimum amount of time outdoors I can when it's below -30C ... like everyone in Calgary I use the +15's!!

They are fantastic, It was just great to walk from the sandman to the other end of Calgary with out stepping out side.

There are downsides to the c-train ... no aircon when it's +30C and it gets crammed when everyone is wearing their winter stuff when it's -30C ... you can't win!

I'm a big fan of the +15's ... they make life a lot easier.

Did you check out the big downtown malls?

All of the malls are inside the buildings ... places like Bankers Hall and TD Square have multiple levels of shops ... Calgary doesn't have anything like Oxford Street,

Yes we went in Bankers hall and TD Square and the Eaton centre. We did notice that there wasn't any thing like Oxford street, the closes was Stephen street I supose.

Stephen Avenue Mall isn't quite the same as Oxfrod Street ... but it's good in summer ... they usually have live music and performers most days ... it's a bit quieter this time of year.

I don't know how much the population increases, but the city is crammed to bursting ... I'd be surprised if you could find a hotel room for next year's stampede already.

Free cowboy breakfasts ... office workers dressed like Roy Rogers, many of them hammered by mid-morning ... all the fun of the fair :D

It's a real hoot .....

And I can't wait... :D

Do you enjoy the stampede or is not your thing?

I'm not really into the going out with colleagues and getting embarassingly hammered aspect ... we treat it as more of a family event ... we didn't go in 2002 because I had just been laid off ... the kids were old enough to go on rides by themselves this year, so we treated it as a fun day at the fair and had a really good time.

I haven't been to the Stampede rodeo ... there are plenty of them over the summer at county fairs around the province ... they cost a lot less too. Depends how you feel about taking kids to a rodeo ... the riders get injured more often than the animals.

I have to admit to being a bit of a rodeo fan, not to sure about the wife and kids.

Isn't there a rodeo school just out side cochrane on the A1?
