Goods to follow money transfer
Hi everyone,
Just a question when making out a goods to follow list, do you have to list capital you intend taking to Canada as an item? Is it the case that any savings over a certain limit would have tax on them unless it was on your goods to follow list?
Thanks

Hi,
Money in what ever form does not have to be listed on the goods to follow list. Anything over $10,000 needs to be declared when you enter the country.

Yes it only applies to cash and 'monetary instruments' that you are carrying. The control is to stop money laundering rather than taxation purposes. If you transfer money electronically the bank will declare it to the authorities to be checked for laundering
