Default Good news for some of you.

"Worker shortage may last decades"

Article in today's Calgary Herald

Below is a short piece from the article regarding demand for finance and IT positions.

"Voula Cocolakis, director of the career centre at the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business, deals with students looking for business-related careers such as accounting, finance and marketing.

"We're seeing a huge demand for students in the accounting area," she said. "The finance sector is very, very hot and they just can't find enough people. And the other area which has really come back that we're noticing a real increase in demand for is positions in the IT sector. Business analysts, programmers . . . And this is an area that had really just died down. Last year we saw just a slow trickle coming in and these past few months we've seen a real increase -- significant increase."

The article is more about Alberta and Calgary in particular but below is a list from the article of Canada's Most Difficult Jobs to Fill:

1. Sales representatives
2. Customer service representatives/customer support
3. Engineers
4. Drivers
5. Mechanics
6. Labourers
7. Chefs/Cooks
8. Electricians
9. Skilled trades
10. Nurses

Cheers
Steve
