We liked a lot of aspects of living in Canada, but realised after a number of years what was important to us was in England.

From what I've seen btw the quality of journalism over in Canada isn't as high as it is back home (not a huge deal but still) whether that's in print or televised.
When my Canadian g/f returned home after a year in England she pointed out that she finally realised what I'd been going on about re: their television news every time I visited. It's a lot more casual and sometimes focuses a lot on opinion/editorial along with a more 'entertainment' bent to the presentation than what you'll be used to if you're used to lots of BBC News 24 like me
