Go fishing this weekend - no licence required (NS)
It's sportfishing weekend, this weekend here in Nova Scotia, which means you can go try out a bit of fishing, no licence required, take the kids and teach them some skills and improve their patience

Most people want the trout (brown, rainbow, lake and brookies) but there are salmon too (which requires that you have a special licence, though, and you're only allowed to fly fish them).
Other than that I've caught lots of small mouth bass and perch. Eels and mudsuckers are common too but I wouldn't eat one.

Poor kids. Sounds nearly as bad as watching football

There's also another fish here, that the locals refer to as a "troot". I have absolutely no idea what it actually is, though
