Are glasses covered under medical care?

Re: Are glasses covered under medical care?
I paid $300 last month for new bifocals including the eye test. My benefits plan will pay up to $400 every other year, which seems to be better than most.

Then she quit for about 14 years raising 5 kids and found it had all changed when she went back to work! So she studied hard and did some exams and started doing anaesthetics again, but found it utterly terrifying! I mean she was good at what she did, but it scared her ****less every time!
Finally she was doing a lot of anaesthetics for eye surgeries, and her colleagues persuaded her to become an eye doctor, so out came more books and more exams and she reached a sub-consultant level of clinical assistant for quite a few years before she finally retired!
I think she's brilliant!!
I just wish she could have had a job that is easier to say, and to spell!!!

Hearing aids
Just wanted to add to this thread that there isn't much coverage for hearing aids either.
As for eyes, hearing exams are not covered under the BC health system.
Also, the UK offers the best free hearing aid provision in the world. There is nothing comparable in Canada.
In BC, a typical expat would be completely responsible for the cost of their hearing aids. The extended health plans (paid for through an employer) may offer e.g. $500-700 per hearing aid every 4-5 years. This wouldn't come near the average price of a typical (not high-end) hearing aid.
Just wanted to mention it in case anyone on this forum is a current NHS hearing aid user.
