Im just wondering how can i find which areas in Canada need GIS (Geographical Information Analyst) skilled people..ie that within that region the job is under pressure and they need people?? I have been on canada job websites but id prefer to apply within an area that somone out there knows they need GIS related workers.

Hi
You could try googling for environmental consultants (try relevant provincial body for candian consulting engineers for member firms) and also for municipalities in the areas you are looking at. Seems to be quite a healthy demand for GIS people that I have seen.
Also a quick search for GIS here: http://www.eluta.ca/search?order=rank&q=gis&l=&qc= brings up some good results.
Happy hunting!

We wrote to all consultancies in our field in Vancouver saying we had WP and what date we were arriving. My company did all interviewing etc over phone and email and offered me job whilst we were still in the UK, and OH had interviews lined up from the day after we landed.
I see most GIS in Greater Vancouver and Victoria. Although one consutlancy I applied to didn't need people in Vancouver, but they did in their Kamloops office so passed my CV over to them.
It might be worth saying that you are willing to consider other places in BC, if you are!
I used the job ads off Monster to try and put together a list of what consultancies there are in Vancouver, even though I didn't apply directly for any of the jobs advertised there, and just got their addresses off the respective company websites.
