Is there an age barrier to immigrating? My husband and I would like to buy a farm but the fear of being turned down on our age stops us and I dont think I worded my last e-mail correctly so didnt get the right reply

Age is worth up to 10 points (21 to 49years old), and drops progresively 2 points at a time from 50 (8 points) to 54+ (0 points)

But with age comes experience, which is worth up to 35 points.

Personally i am confused by the published pass mark of 35, which seems laughably low..does anyone know if this is a Typo???Seriously???

Anyway, as far as age goes, it is a minor points scorer compared to business experience, education and language ability, so it should not stand against you. Hope this answers your question

No reason to believe it will, CIC is pretty straight shooting when it comes to the info they put out. Really I think you are way more worried about it than anyone else. Why, how old are you if its not rude to ask?

For a wider opinion post in canadian immigration, I bet there are people there who came over when they were older than you.

I don't feel this is laughably low. Especially for Self-Employed. Its basically a small loophole to attract artists and actors, athletes and farmers. I would think that it could be likely that many of those who make a PROFESSIONAL living at this might not have a high level of education, as well, may not be "just that right age" ... BUT if they've been living off this for over 5 years, then in order to enhance Canada's cultural, athletic or farming industries, how else are they gonna 'pass' them? They won't be able to under Skilled without major post-secondary education no matter what.

As for Entrepreneurs and Investors, they need 5 years BUSINESS experience AND a whole swack of money. This helps show they WILL be able to provide Canadians with new jobs ... and that's what Canada wants these guys to do for the country. AND they actually HAVE to create jobs as part of the conditions of their visas. They are followed up on to make sure they do, and if they don't, they are out. I believe they have somewhere in the neighbourhood of 3-5 years in order to fulfill this condition.
