Getting my qualiations recognised in Canada
#1
Hi,
I put in for a transfer through work in Dec. When I first spoke to them they said they would want me to start as soon as Jan/Feb time. It has hit a problem though. My company has very specific requirements regarding qualifications and they do not know if mine are recognised and it is slowing things down. I dont suppose anybody would know how to find out?
I have a HND in Mechanical Engineering, HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Nat Cert in Mechanical Engineering GNVQ Intermediate General Engineering and NVQ3 Technical Services...
Thanks for any help

I don't know the answer to your question, but the Wiki on Equivalency of Qualifications has a section on engineering.

If you do a search in the Canada Forum for HNC you'll find lots of info, here's a post I made on one of thread:
Hi,
I have done some reading in this area as I have a HNC in Engineering, and from what I understand for the HNC to be recognised in Canada it has to be 'converted' by the Engineering Council UK under the Sydney Accord (just do a google search for this). I have just converted mine, it cost £58.75, free if you are IEng, and took about a month to come back. All you get is a letter to send of with your immigration docs from the EC UK, stating that your qualification should be recognised under the Sydney Accord, which Canada have signed up to. Hope this helps.
