When we arrived, even though my hub is Canadian, and all based on his standings, we had been pre-approved before arriving here with BMO, but even despite the pre-approval, afterwards, when they delved further into our current position, they completely mucked us about and we nearly lost our property and deposit. Make sure whatever happens, that when you put in an offer that it always has the 'subject to finance' clause!!

The divvy person at BMO told us we could waive that clause as it had been pre-approved, but afterwards retracted it!! Nightmare, but luckily we got there in the end!

Hi

We have now got home after telling the TD bank that we won't be using them for a mortgage due to them requiring the AOR. We are using a broker instead. We got up this morning to an email from the woman at the bank saying that she had contacted their mortgage department and they are now prepared to waive the requirement for the AOR and will just accept the work permit and job offer letter!! Obviously suddenly the need for our business is greater than the need for a piece of paper!! Anyway we will be emailing her back to say thanks but no thanks and we will continue with the broker.

Funny how the threat of taking your business elsewhere seems to do the trick! Congrats - and hope everything goes smoothly with the move!
