What's the easiest way to get to Mississauga by public transit. I've looked on the GO transit website at various timetables and can make head nor tail of it.

You can also get from Downtown Toronto to Mississauga by TTC it might be worth checking out their website too. For example you can get buses from Kipling Station to Pearson International.

OK, that narrows it down a bit, but can you be more specific? From where in Toronto to where in Mississauga? Both are quite large places...
Some TTC bus services run into eastern Mississauga (eg offices in the development just across the 401 from the airport); there are GO trains and buses along the lakeshore and to various points across the city; if you need to travel further into Mississauga then I believe Mississauga Transit accepts TTC transfers on some, if not all, bus routes.

No. There is TTC system and separately, Mississauga/Brampton/Oakville - those three are united and accept transfers mutually. But if you go to Toronto or coming back using GO, and have a GO ticket already, Mississauga bus will be only 60 cent - just show your GO ticket to the bus driver.

It's nice when it works, though. I take daily advantage of the GO co-fare system in Oakville, which I'm glad to hear is replicated in Mississauga. It's one example of how municipalities can encourage people onto public transit if they put their minds to it. I was talking to a chap on the bus just before Christmas who said he'd driven to the GO station for ages, had had to take the bus one morning when his car was in the shop, and now wondered why he'd never thought of the bus before as it's so easy (depositing passengers right by the door to the station instead of the other side of the parking lot) and cheap.

Silly me, for thinking that the GTA's transit networks should make it easy for passengers to use public transit. What a surprise that it's the TTC who are not playing nicely with the 905.

To the later reply: Click-n-Ride Trip Planner at mississauga.ca is good, but not always accurate. By shuffling back and forth with "later start" or "earlier arrival" buttons I used to discover shorter trips that are not found automatically. Again, experience counts.

Try the Mississauga Transit Trip Planner

With respect, then, it was a rather bizarre question. If I were to ask in a UK forum, for example, "what's the best way of getting from some unspecified location in London to another unspecified location in a major London suburb" I'd expect the same kind of answers you've had here...
the Mississauga Transit trip planner that CaptainHook guided you to requires that you know where your journey begins and ends, so I don't see how that can have been helpful at this stage - but if you found it useful the forum has served its purpose so I'll stop getting all snippy and shut up now!
