Hello,
Could anyone please tell me if you have to have a marriage license in the uk before being able to get married in Canada, or can you just do the whole thing in Canada? I cant find any information anywhere.

My wife is Canadian, I'm the Brit. We got married in Canada (before applying for PR) and I don't recall nationality being anything to do with it.
I was advised that a few weeks after marrying I should get a Canadian version of my birth certificate.
That was in Quebec.

Citizenship/Residency
There are no citizenship or residency requirements when applying for a marriage licence in Ontario or BC (and probably the other Provinces, Google "marriage in <insert Province>".
If either of you have been divorced it makes it slightly more complicated, please read the websites for details.

Not available online for BC unfortunately, one of you has to apply in person - but it is valid on the day of issuance and then up to 90 days afterwards.
There are several different marriage commissioners, here's a list: http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/cgi-bin/sear...sortby=surname
