It's true that a lot of people don't accept Amex; I believe it's to do with the high commission they charge. The good thing about Amex, from my point of view, is the speed with which you can get a new card if yours is lost/stolen. We're looking at hours, not days or weeks.

My Amex platinum (I think? Or silver? who knows) could not be transferred. They will change the address but it is still a £ sterling account. Expensive exchange rate going that way from here.
