Are German Shepherds smaller in Canada?
#1
W wish to have two german shepherds when we land. However, someone has mentioned that in Canada they just arn't the same pedigree as in the UK.
So, is it worthwhile getting them in the UK? ( I am aware of the shipping implications).

You should direct your question to the Canadian Kennel Club http://www.ckc.ca/en/

At our dog training classes, there was another one, a farm dog.... again, big (and a bit fierce too, but the trainer said this was because it hadn't been socialised on the farm).
So I think what you've heard may not be entirely true...

Cheers Rich, I do love my GS's and have had a few, because of the health problems and unscrupilous (bleeders) I always check for excellent pedigree.
Thanks for the link auld yin, a good place to check.
Oh BTW, the first time my canadian missus flew to the UK to stay with me she flew over a big building and on the roof was B&Q......turned into a standing joke as this was Manchester and sometime later in Southampton she saw a B&Q and insisted she flew very low over this building! So, ideally we would like two GS's and guess what they would be called.....

My good friends from Edmonton called her dog Beaver purley because it looked like one (the semi aquatic rodent). It wasn't until her mother was shocked and asked why she would call her dog that?
She's overcome her embarrassment of yelling "Beaver" in the park now

The best place to look for information about purebred registered dogs in Canada is the Dogs in Canada website
http://www.dogsincanada.com/breeders
This is the website for the Canadian Kennel Club magazine.
The first breeder in the list of German Shepherds has the Canadian breed standard which you can read here:
