If I get the same job in Canada(when we finally get there!) as I currently have in the UK,I'll be on about UK£11,000 p.a more in Canada. than in the UK.

When we were there last year(London,On),my cousin was moaning about paying 89c a litre, until I told him how much it was in the UK and he stopped moaning for a while!

At least your's goes down as well as up,it just keeps going up and up in the UK,still I suppose Blair's got to pay for his illegal war somehow!
Have you been offered the equivalent job in Canada that you have in the UK?

If you have agreed salary with a new job in Canada, you are very lucky.
I found that "yes" we like your experience and qualifications, but you have no Canadian work experience.

I was earning £45k p.a when I decided to move to Canada as I researched and found out my profession paid $80K for the type of work I did in the UK.

First year in Canada I made $38K, by third $53K. Year 7 I hit $80k income.
year 8 returned to UK.

I'm sure I paid about 93p a litre for unleaded 2 weeks ago at a Tesco and couple of days ago filled up in a village station in Wiltshire and couldn't believe that I was having to pay 99.9 for the same. Duhhh. Hope it comes back down soon. With all the stuff happening in Middle East could keep on rising. But me hopes not.

Best of luck with that, but I reckon youve got your sums wrong.
Living here is nowhere near the low cost living you find if youve holidayed or done your recce.

Utilites ++, Car Insurance ++ Car and houses about same as UK but you get more. Still have to pay for them though !!

I spent 8 years living in Canada. We back in the UK for 10 months now.

We found now our monthly outings are lower compare to income.
For every pound we spend on bills etc we spent about 2.5 dollars in Canada. Our life style is similar, just now can see more friends are and family without huge expensive.

I thought going on holiday to Calgary in 1996 that everything looked cheap, compare to the UK. Prices in the shops were lower, but we found out the hidden costs were much higher.

I agree you have to do the sums to work out your comparisons. Dont think that you will end up with "Loads of Money" in your pockets.

If you get a good job, you can have a reasonable life style Canada. It meet a Lebanese engineer in Calgary who was selling used cars, who said you will never be "poor in Canada but wont make a huge amount of money".

This something I found that you lived pretty OK, but did not have alot of spare money.

I agree you have to careful with your sums.
