I'm currently an apprentice working for SGN in Scotland, very serious about emmigrating to Canada, preferabilly Ontario as I have a realtive there, and as Close to Toronto as possible, Is there any Gas engineers currently over there that could help me? By the end of my apprenticeship I will have my GNO1 and 2 for laying gas service pipes and tying into the mains aswell as fixing escapes, I alos will have my CORE gas safe registered tickets, as In my current job I have to attend gas escapes and make it safe etc, I am also going to put myself through my tickets for my gas safe FORE and my appliances to allow me to work on boilers, cookers etc, Now see if I was coming to canada, does anyone know what level I would be qualified to? Or would I have to sit the G1 G2 and G3 gas assesments? And would I be eligible for a permanent visa through my trade? A lot to read I know but I am not too clued up so if anyone could share any knowledge at all I would be grateful 😊 Cheers.

Welcome to BE & your question.
First off, as a trades person you wouldn't be using 'Gas Engineer' in Canada
Determine your eligibility — Skilled trades
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigra.../apply-who.asp
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/...al=7&val1=7253
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/...spx?val65=7332
http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/report-eng....final&ln=n&s=2
You would also need to look at the red seal exam to work in your trade in most provinces
Gasfitter - Class A / Red Seal
Red Seal Trades / Red Seal
Which you can apply to challenge

Only if they have enogh hours expeience. Also, gas tickets are issued b the safety auhority. SO one would have to sit 2 exams, Interprovincial and Safety and Safety Authority. Hours depend on trade, it is equal to 1.5 tme the hours required for the apprenticeship.

For Ontario look at the TSSA website, those are the people that oversee certification and registration.

You want to look at the trade equivalency guide and application.
TSSA is for Power/Operating Engineers and Refrigeration Engineers, generally speaking.

The Gas B Ticket is now recognized by Red Seal (2012 I think it was), But there is no Interprovincial exam for it as yet. So if you have a Gas Ticket in Ontario and want to move to BC you would have to challenge the BC Safety Authority Gas Ticket and sit another exam in BC.
Know one seems to have a clue when the Red Seal Interprovincial Exam will be ready.
