Games industry

Hi, Hubby works for a very well known company in Montreal we are also from the u.k.(surrey)
Montreal and Vancouver are the places to be for the games industry. Toronto also has a few smaller companies and is starting to be known Ubisoft has just set up a office there and are currently looking.
If your other half has the skills and experience then he should have no problems getting here (only took us 8 weeks) Companies are always looking for international employees.
EA
Ubisoft
Bioware
Microsoft
Rockstar
PM me if you want any other info

One of my best mates works for Ubisoft. I'll ask him about recruitment there.

Iounan, Londonuck and Snorkmaiden (great name, btw- that's my kind of reference!), Sambadeamigo I'd love to get my partner to PM you this weekend, if that's ok? Thanks very much for your help.
Bob, brilliant tips. Will look into the Austin news for sure. Have posted on the US site too in the hopes N1cky drops by- didn't want to PM without invite!
Thanks everyone for the links too. Thoroughly appreciated.

Listing of games design companies (there are links for each province) - I was suprised to see how many there are!

Insider contact is best, as pointed out above and I do have a few friends at Ubi Montreal. However I was offered a job position there after I applied through creativeheads.net. They post their job vacancies on that website as well as on their own website.

Hey Guys.
My family are moving to Nova Scotia really soon, and im looking around Canada, looking to push my career!
Im from Portsmouth, UK and im about to graduate from my 'Computer Game and Video Game' art Degree with a high grade!
Does anyone know if theres any chance of jobs at my 'graduate artist' level, or is it worth sticking with the UK for a while?
Thanks!
Tom x

Just work on your portfolio, pretty much chuck everything you've done at school as everyone will have those set pieces and just build up a portfolio of stuff and plug away.

Binty. Everyone's been really helpful on here so far so I'm sure other folk will have far more valid an opinion than I. I'm in illustration, but my OH is in games.
I think the problem you may find is that they'll have their own set of graduates in Canada you'll have to compete with.
That said, my own experience of the creative industries is:
1. There are always opportunities for an exceptional portfolio (but I do mean exceptional!)
2. He who dares wins.
I don't think it can hurt to try anywhere you feel you'd like to work. The worst that can happen is that they can reject or ignore you- meh! So what?! You just keep going!
If you do decide to stay in the UK, feel free to get in contact. My OH would be happy to give pointers etc.
