Default Funds Required / SIN Question

Hi Guys,

I recently got a positive LMO and work permit through, we are travelling over on the 2nd August, Just wondered is there a specific amount of funds required if you are going via a temporary work permit ??

2nd Question, where and how do I go about getting a Social Insurance Number (SIN), do I wait till I arrive for this or is this something I should look in to now ??

Thanks guys

There is no specific amount per se however if you turned up at a Port of Entry with a hundred dollars and no proof of other funds then I might be inclined to refuse entry based on financial inadmissibility or until satisfied that you have sufficient funds to look after yourself until receiving regular income from your job.

Note that they should be able to give you your number as soon as you apply; they'll send the card through later.
