I've been paying my UK taxes for the last 38 years and what ever I get as a state pension when I get over to Canada when I reach 65 (if I reach that age) I'll be happy with. It's bugger all anyway all said and done.
Anyone heard of 'Half Man Half Biscuit'? They did a great album 'Trouble Over Bridgwater'.

If I may say so that's a particularly childish and unwholesome statement! The initial argument put forward by DAVIE_MAC, IN UPPERCASE WHICH IS GENERALLY CONSTRUED ON CHAT ROOMS TO BE SHOUTING was done in a way which I for one considered aggressive, in-your-face and akin to a political rant. This is why I could never take his arguments seriously. Although I see his point, perhaps if he had put it in a less aggressive manner he would have got more people on his side, not that he's right though.

Why don't the children who want to talk about soccer and music take their MP3's and go play on a busy highway ? Let this discussion continue for those that wish to share personal experiences and knowledge for our mutual benefit and not talk a load of garbage that has no bearing on the subject of pensions. Goodbye children...
Now to get back to the serious business.
Thank you DAVIE_MAC for raising this in the first place and for the those making a sensible contribution.'
Further to the ECHR case that is being brought by the CABP and the BPiA who are partners, those who think that the case is lost before it has begun may have to eat their words. The UK government has signed and is committed to the Human Rights Convention in Europe and as such will have to obey the findings of the court or face serious sanctions until the court is satisfied that the human rights violation has been rectified. They have no power to actually enforce it though but should they find in our favour, which all indications are that they will, then we will see what happens. The CABP have been talking to MP'S in the UK and Europe and many are in disbelief that British Pensioners are in this situation. The CABP have a team of lawyers working for them and this is high powered activity on behalf of pensioners that has never been there before now.
Someone said that the people in the UK are not concerned about this but they would be wrong. Many, many pensioners abroad have relatives and friends who are writing to their MP's and signing petitions in order to get the upgraded pension for all and you only have to look at the signatories of the EDM's that I mentioned earlier to see that their is much stronger support there than there has been previously. About 30% of MP's have already signed EDM856.

In what sense is a state pension a human right? I don't much hold with the concept of rights but while asylum might be a human right and protection from starvation might be a human right indexing of state funded pensions is no more a human right than is access to the back catalogue of the Flaming Groovies.
Between you and steve666 (who by his earlier post is in his 50's) you need to grow up fellas and get a life or even a job god forbid as all you seem to do is piss about on here day in day out talking shite......your on here from 0758 this morning Jesus.

Suppose you would argue that the scum you call your family (as you put it)who are mostly in nick sponging off the state have a case for human rights for being locked up 23 hrs a day as someone mentioned.

If prisoners are locked in their cells for 23 hours a day as, for example, Paris Hilton reportedly to be then, yes, those people have a better claim that their human rights have been violated than the non-recipients of indexed pension payments.

Regarding the OAS, whether you apply or not is up to you, so I take it that you will not accept any health care from the Canadian government when you get sick as you said that you would be loath to impose on them. Hmm.
Maybe you can tell us how many and which countries follow the same or similar pattern to the British government and freeze or maybe do not pay any pension outside of their own country. This would be a positive input to the discussion.

Thanks Davie_mac and Startwin for some useful info that we were not aware of and will help with the overall decision making process. I think like most people that try to use this site for useful info we just blank out the 'I want to add a few posts to my total' type of boring rubbish. I wouldn't bother getting into those sort of convos and just continue the theme.
