Frightening Reality

Hi

Our E-LMO is in the post from OH employer in Olds.

House went up for sale on Saturday. OMG we have 3 viewings booked for today and tomorrow.
When I saw the for sale sign on my drive I did,nt know whether to laugh or cry. Its really happening. We are still coming in Jan/Feb even if house doesnt sell.
Our PR application is in the big box waiting... so we thought we were going to be a few years away but then OH was offered his job.

We are soooo excited and yes sh*****ng bricks too lol.

I have learned such a lot from this forum in a short space of time and I thank you all.

Hi Tina,

Fingers crossed for some positive news after your viewings. Totally relate to the mix of excitement and errr bricks :D - that was us too. It's normal. Best wishes for the move across next year.

Eamonn & Janet.

Thanks Christmas and Eamon

I have just ousted the rooms and am waiting for the first ones.
Im not getting too excited but hey, they can only say no. I actually love this house and have put lots of time and effort into it. If we were satisfied with everything else here I would never leave it.
That sounds so sad lol. My OH says its just bricks etc. but thats a mans perspective.
Its got soul

I can really relate to this Tina. Ours goes on the market tomorrow and even though it's very exciting, part of me is sad too. I only saying OH half an hour ago that I wish we could lift the whole house and take it with us:(

Oh I am only a couple of weeks ahead of you in some ways and a few months behind in others!

Our house went on the market about a month or so ago and I stood in the street and cried when I saw the sign!!

In January we start in earnest getting it all together because like you we are going on a TWP (intra company transfer) and will leave the house if not sold (huge decision that one) with PR sat in the big box as well.

It is such a wierd feeling and I keep crying all over the place, I daren't even mention the "C" word to my mum as we both end up crying every time! I'm like a proper tiny tears at the moment!

Good luck with the move.

Yes I know what you mean. Had our first viewers who want to come back on Saturday to see garden etc. in daylight. The wife says she loves it but they have a house to sell which has been on market for 6 months so I think that one could leave us back to square 1.
We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Heidi, are you going to rent yours out if not sold?
Up to now I have not been able to consider that because this is our home and it feels wrong.
On another thread, a member said that once you leave, it is no longer a home. Again I shall have to see what happens.
It is really like the end of an era Blue, and its not sold yet lol but I would love to take this one with me too. Its made of bricks!!

Yep, we said that too! We love our house now but we crammed a lot of work and happy memories into our little house in St Albans. It's not so easy to walk away.

TBH no it was never on our agenda to leave the house here and rent it out because we need the money to move.

But if we can't sell it and if we drop the price any further we will be in negative equity (ridiculous as we have already lost £45K in a year), we now only have another £20-30K before it hits negative equity and if this happens then we may as well try to hang on to the house and rent it out - we won't cover all the mortgage but what can we do?

The alternative is not to go but that isn't an alternative either, to postpone means that the kids are another year, two or three years older and our eldest already doesn't want to go, another year or two and it will be near on impossible to move her!!

The whole thing is very upsetting, frustrating and aggravating but I firmly believe that we need to stay focussed on the move and the rest will sort itself out at some point.

More than the house, I wish we could pick up my parents, my inlaws and my sister and her family and pack them all in our suitcase, the thought of leaving them all behind makes me feel physically sick.

 now don't make me laugh through the tears!

This place ought to have a health warning on "no good for your tear ducts" or something similar!
