Whereabouts in Ontario were you looking? There isn't much congestion around here and prices wil certainly be cheaper than the UK.
Did I miss something?

Hey, Fledermaus and Iaink, I realize my previous post was not worded well and understand your confusion. I had meant that Southern Ontario (where the horse community is) would be more expensive, more congested etc than where we live in rural Nova Scotia. I appreciate if sounded as tho I was saying Ontario is like the UK - which I fully acknowledge it isnt!!!
My research overall into Ontario has not been indepth, a look here and there on the MLS for properties etc. I have only been to Ottawa so have no real personal experience of the Province and after reading other comments etc and seeing as tho we cannot leave Canada for at least 6 months due to the Dogs rabies vaccinations, I have actually been looking into jobs with accomodation in Ontario. Figured we could see if we can find something suitable in the horse industry in Ontario and go with an open mind, it may well strengthen our desire to go back to the UK or maybe we will delay that thought for a while?? Either way I dont think sitting in Nova Scotia for the next 6 months, waiting for the date we can go back to the UK is the right thing to do!!
Mandy - maybe Alberta does have more to offer us - I havnt ruled it out, I guess it is more the difficulties related to getting there to find out?? watch this space..........

The chance of this rather depends on the nature of the required sacrifice of integrity in NS. There's no end of low paid barn and practise ride work in Ontario as well as work catching loose horses at tracks and rodeos but a lot of it requires a high degree of comfort with animal cruelty.

dbd33 - you may well be right - but at least we can say we did try, and did not just throw in the towel on the basis that because the horse industry is one way in Nova Scotia it must be the same across the country!
Got at least 6 months to kill, dont want to waste it!!

There is a poster on here who has an equestrian business. She's been taking exams so she can become a coach. The barn is near Bobcaygeon, I can't remember her name though. Try a search.
I do find it hard to believe that Nova Scotia is less congested than rural Ontario. If you have no people at all then who is going to ride the horses?
