I've always wondered about this. The weather reports here all seem to go on the exact technical definitions of the seasons (i.e. lagging 1.5 months behind the equinox/solstice events). It took me by surprise initially as I always think of the seasons changing when they ... er... actually change.
Winter in Fredericton could be considered from the beginning of Dec to the end of March, but there could be a snowfall in Nov or in April, but it also could be +10 and sunny in December or March or +5 and raining in Jan or Feb. It varies, the 2 true months of winter IMO are Jan and Feb. When I think of the seasons I think of the temps more so than the participation of the precipitation. |
