We have had a couple of people either swap Calgary for Fort Mac or vice versa in the last 6 months. The one going went for twice his salary plus some 50K of one off housing allowance plus some sort of attraction bonus.

The other came to Calgary for half his earnings. He's a grad plus 3. Has his own condo in Fort mac, which his mates are currently paying off his mortgage for him. He wanted to leave before he got stuck in a skills trap. Probably a good move. Its not like he's will be poorly paid in Calgary.

Unless you also have a useful skill to add to your academic credentials, I fear even such a paltry sum as $150k would be beyond your reach in Fort Mac. Can you weld?

Theoretically.

But why keep a dog and bark yourself?
