Have you searched the forum as suggested and read the threads I linked to in your other thread?
There's loads of opinions on Fort Mac on the forum, so have a hunt and you'll find lots of reasons why people think it's not a great place for a family.

Canadian illustrator/cartoonist Kate Beaton (look up her book, "Hark! A Vagrant") once worked at the oil fields in Fort McMurray while she was a university student. Her 5 part comic series on that experience is insightful and is worth the 5 minute distraction:

Yes indeed Fort Mac is a dump to live in/around , however if hubby is after work in the patch he could try Weyburn or Estevan where money can be made but small town values not far away are still to be had .

jingsamichty did seven years in the camps, his family lived in Calgary for a time but eventually decided that, since he worked away, they might as well be in England. They went home and he commuted from there until, eventually, he went home too. A search for his posts will tell you all about Fort McMurray, work camps and commuting.
There was also a couple that lived in Fort Mac until their children were a couple of years old, then they went to Australia. I don't remember the poster name but a search of jing's threads will turn them up along with an explanation of why a boom town in the middle of nowhere populated mainly by male labourers who suddenly have lots of money isn't ideal for families. In case you need that.

loads of other threads if you want to double check, but the general consensus by most is that it's not the place for a family.
