Default flying within canada do you need a passport

hi if you fly within canada do you need to have your passport ? ours have been sent to the uk for our permanent residents visas im not sure when they will be back i sent them 3 weeks ago, my husband may need to travel to alberta within the next couple of weeks will he be able to without his passport? he has a canadian driving licence and a firearms permit both have photos on does anyone know if this id will be ok thanks

Just to confirm, we flew from Calgary to Toronto this year and just used our Alberta driving licences!
