Default Flying pooch from Aberdeen

Has anyone arranged flights etc themselves from Aberdeen to Halifax via Heathrow for their dog? Air Canada cargo have been very helpful about shipping dog from Heathrow as excess baggage but it is BMI connection worries that are concerning me. Individually both companies can vouch for the service but it is the connection that is concerning. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

We shipped our two from Scotland to St John's, but we used an agency in Dunfermline who took care of everything. I think they flew from Edinburgh with British Airways to Heathrow, stayed overnight at kennels at the airport, then flew Halifax then St John's.

The Heathrow/Halifax flight was cancelled due to bad weather, so they were just kept at Heathrow for an extra night until the next flight the day after. I know that there's a link between BMI and Air Canada (Star Alliance), so I'm not sure how it worked with our dogs as they were British Airways. On the paperwork we have there is a booking all the way through. There certainly wasn't anyone in person (us or pet agency) at Heathrow or Halifax - they were dropped of in Edinburgh by the agency and picked up by us at St John's.

Sorry I can't be of more help! But if you've any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you for that- I had looked up this company yesterday and they are going to send me some details- I was trying to do it a bit cheaper-but I guess they do know what they are doing and that will take the stress away from us. These precious dogs...!

Hi there, we flew our Ragdoll cat from Aberdeen to Halifax via Heathrow.

We took her via Air Canada as excess baggage. She was checked in at Aberdeen. Collected by us at Heathrow and checked back in again as pet cargo. I was asked through to an area where they assured me she would be fine, then scanned her and her travel kennel with a paddle. She had some dried pet food in her dish attached to th door of the carrier and some water too. The guys said they check that all animals have enough water before bording.

PS we moved from Blackburn, Aberdeenshire to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia just over 2 years ago. I think we paid around 120 GBP for the cat's fare. Things may have changed - you may have to use a pet company nowadays.
