Flights to UK

Has anyone got any promo codes for flights back to London? The prices are mental, they make me sick the robbing b******ds!

Re: Flights to UK

Nearly as expensive as flying across Canada, which is only half the distance...

Have you had a look at Icelandair via Reykjavik? They had some good prices.

AirTransat's current promo code is 'world10'

I looked at them, last time I booked tickets. It was hundreds of dollars more than Air Canada.

Obviously depends on date and where the OP is flying from...

From Toronto for example, I can see final prices under $700 return including taxes etc.

Air Canada were doing a deal into Dublin for about $1000. Not exactly cheap but depends if that would work for you?

Re: Flights to UK

If you need a rental car and / or hotels for your trip to UK, check out booking them through AC, with the flight. You may find that even though the AC flight is more expensive, the overall cost of flight / car / hotels as a total works out cheaper.

If you book early enough Air transit is reasonable enough, we are flying with them in June to the UK

Interesting quandary with Air Transat.

We have found their prices lower for last minute than early booking, even in July....

I find if you book early or if there are seats left last minute then the costs are good. If you book in between not so good

Are Lingus via Dublin is pretty cheap if you book in advance...

Cheapest I saw when I was looking about a month ago were Westjet to Dublin. It involved a stopover in St John(s(can't remember)), but return all in was under $600. Flights start from YYZ 1st May (I think).

Total time from Vancouver to Dublin is nearly 17 hours, Glasgow is 14 hours. With those seat configs, bugger that. No price is worth that discomfort and hassle.

I'm with you on that, although I'm fly direct from Halifax, not quite as bad!

Anyone booked through skyscanner? The same AC flights are coming up nearly $200 cheaper on there- any hidden fees?

I've only ever used them to search for flights, never booked through them. Do you actually book on their website, or do they transfer you to the agent who is actually offering that price?

CHeck on kayak.co.uk (or .com) as well, I use them more often and with them you get redirected to whatever agency or website is actually offering the price.

Like ALL search engines, they are a machine to generate affiliate commissions for the owner of the website. They just happen to be specifically designed to compare prices by searching other search engines and the travel trade's online booking systems.

You click on the link generated by their search engine.

You buy your flight on the website that it leads to.

Kayak/Skyscanner/whicheverothersearchengine get anything up to about 15% of the pre-tax price of your purchase. Typically 1% for flights, up to 10 or 15% for hotels and car hire or even more for insurance (30-50% even).

It's a kind of pyramid scheme, only the customer doesn't usually get scammed, although in some cases, you will pay MORE by going via a search engine.

Sometimes it's because they are showing the price in U.S. Dollars instead of Canadian, despite it having a .ca web address.

We did DUB - YVR with Westjet a couple of weeks ago and found it pretty good. There's actually more leg room than BA/Air Canada in their configuration. The stop off in St John's is no big deal and you actually get the oppurtunity to go outside the terminal which is great, I think. And the immigration there is pretty efficient, definitely more so than in Vancouver.

We upgraded to the Plus seats for the YYZ-YVR leg and that was worth the money. Even more legroom and unlimited drinks/snacks from the cart.

I would definitely fly with them again.

Re: Flights to UK

Ive not checked the prices for a while but West Jet fly to Dublin now, you need a connection from there obviously.
My last flight cost $950 Edmonton to Manchester and back, BUT it was KLM and had to go Via Amsterdam,
There are lots of sites but i use this one for flights: Cheap Tickets: Flights, Hotels & Car Rentals − CheapOair

Connection at work is snail speed so couldnt read previous posts (Mr Bean) till it picked up lol

Does rather depend on what cabin you fly in. Club and First are a much more civilised way to travel.

I was in budget seats with KLM last time, i must be getting old as i have now decided my days of budget seats are over, two cracked verts, broken tail bone, motorbike accident and a bad case of sciatica meant my last trip was painful in a budget seat but that's not KLMs fault, in future i will fly business class or i wont fly at all !
I will pay the extra for the icelandair too as they land in iceland so i can stretch my legs (6'2" here) The days of get there ASAP are now replaced by the need for comfort ! lol
As for Air Transat i had a nightmare flight with them once and would rather go back by row boat than fly with them again.

The great thing with BA Club World, the seats go fully flat and you can get a good nights sleep on the flight over. Well worth the extra.

well i have sleep apnea and snore really really loudly lol doubt i can plug my machine in on any planes which is a shame, I tend to stay awake rather then keep everyone around me awake if i try to sleep, that means shortest flight time is best.

In BA club you can, each seat has two plug in sockets. That will operate a CPAP.

Gawd what an awful flight over to London with Transat. Also sat next to the fattest man and his fatter wife. Should of tapped him up for a third of my fare seeing as he had that much of my seat. Awful.

Flying back on Saturday but have two together thank god. Where did those three weeks go

Re: Flights to UK

I booked AC online via Kayak saving about $100 on the direct booking; would have been $160 but there was a bolloxy option to change your ticket on the same day (fat use as I was booking at 8pm) which I forgeot to click no to so they scalped me $60 for that.

Good old wild west online.

Just compared BA and Iceland Air, about same price for business class but from Edmonton with BA i have to go via Calgary and heathrow to get to manchester, with iceland air i go from edmonton to iceland to manchester, a lot quicker for same price. Just for future reference and i would have to ask iceland air if they have mains power.
FYI a lot of the BA business is already selling out even for september lol

I know quite a few people who have also done 2-3 day layovers in Iceland as it comes at no extra cost, then you get an extra little holiday out of it. :) It's something we are going to take advantage of down the road. :)

A couple of days there sounds good if no extra cost, next time i fly if its with IcelandAir i'll be doing that too.
Just need to find out if there's mains power the same as BA Business class.

I *think* it's if your layover is less than 96 hours then it's no extra cost. Might be 72 hours. But there's definitely a cap and if you book your flights like that as a layover then there's not an extra cost. :) Good luck!

Also Reykjavic is fierce expensive, but worth a day mooching around especially if you get to see the allnight sunlight in summer.
