Default Fishing in NS

Can any one tell me what the fishing is like in Nova Scotia,I enjoy all sorts but am mostly interested in course fishing.

We lived in Goose Bay Labrador for 3 years and the fishing was pretty much limited to trout and pike, although ice fishing was sometimes interesting. I seam to remeber having to "officially wait" 2 years until I was able to go out without a guide, is this also the case in NS, and would this apply to sea fishing?

Also if anyone has any tips as to good lakes then that would be good. Although I can do all sorts of fishing Fly, sea, course, I realy do prefer the course fishing, so any tips would be greatfully received
