Default First Wobbly - The Telling

Well today I have just had the first wobbly, which I know is down to the shock realisation that the move is happening.

I have spent the day between arranging shipment of furniture and telling those closest and nearest to me about the move.

My Aunt and Cousin have both been very supportive.

My close friends are shocked - think it will take time.

But it feels ok, just need a hug of reassurance from my partner !

Upwards and onwards x

You're going through the normal feelings associated with this whole malarky. It took us four years from visa to moving over and in that time we (I, at least) had feelings ranging from panic, frustration, sadness and guilt to excitement, nervousness and happiness. Our last month was a pure nightmare back in Blighty....you have to be here, there and everywhere (all at once) and coupled with clearing our your past life in readiness for your new life, it makes for many emotions along the way. At some points I wondered what the heck we were doing....still do sometimes but from reading your posts you seem much better prepared this time and this should put you in good stead for the future ahead.

Don't forget to hug...when things are so stressful you can forget about how your partner/kids (dogs ) feel so my little bit of advice is don't forget to give them a squeeze every now and so often.

It's an odd time / limbo ish ! Hugs and keep your chin up people will be upset and hurt and lash out and say stuff they may not mean but you have to take it all in digest and then go off and grumble in private xx

The bit between going and actually leaving is hellish, you are excited and sad, they are just plain sad...and also threatened, because you are rejecting what has made them happy. You are stuck between a rock and something infinitely more unknown. You aren't going to beat these feelings, or head them off at the pass, just accept them and try not to beat yourself up mentally, whilst the family is all in there giving you a good going over! Best of luck.

I agree with everyone, the last month getting everything done whilst coping with emotions you never knew you had can be scary and gets worse as the day gets closer, especially as you end up running around like a headless chicken! You do just have to ride it, try not to overthink things and accept that things will get done and that you will be on a rollercoaster for a while yet. By the time you get to Canada and get your life kind of sorted in the first few weeks you will be amazed at how much you have achieved and can begin to enjoy the next amazing phase of your life. Good luck and keep hugging!
