Hi, just found out about this website from friends in Perth, Oz. Recommended as a great place to meet new friends.
We are a Scottish couple with a 4 yr old daughter living in Claresholm, Alberta.
Spent our first year in Saskatoon then moved here when our residency came through. I'm a Psych Nurse and my husband is a truck driver been here since January. We're all settled in with work, new house and day care but have not had a lot of time to make new friends. If there is anyone in the Calgary - Lethbridge area we'd love to meet up, Regards Sharon.

Hi Sharon,
Welcome to BE. Glad to hear you're all settled in.
So whereabouts do you work, I know Fort Macleod has a small hospital?
We'll be just down the road from you in Fort Macleod - have bought a plot to build on.
We're in the queue for SW, but are over for 2 weeks at the end of August to get things moving on the house building front
Bye for now,
Arris

Hi hun
There are loads of different ways to move to Canada.
Can I first point you to the BE Wiki which has a whole section on Canadian Immigration for you to have a read through complete with links to various sites.
Once you have read through this bit go onto the Immigration Forum and ask away at anything you dont understand.

If you post a question in someone else's thread it can get lost and the people that know the answer may not read it. People tend to read threads based on the subject.

I'm also a psych nurse (child and adolescent) called Sharon and have been offered a post with Calgary health. Just waiting for all the paperwork to come through. We're having a reccee in Sept so will be around the area.

Thanks for all the replies, don't feel quite so alone. Anyone fancy a stop off in Claresholm on the way to Lethbridge we'd love the company. OH has started to make his own beer (try it if you dare!!)
Also great to hear from another psych nurse where have they offered you a job Sharon? I'm working for the Calgary Health Region in the Claresholm Centre for Mental Heath and Addictions and loving it. If you can fit us in you'd me more than welcome to stop over on your recce.
Looking forward to meeting up in Aug and Mrs M if you fancy a BBQ before then we'd be up for it, Sharon.
