Re: First Direct banking on the go app

But Alohavic needs to come back to us and tell us exactly how his phone / accounts are set up. Because my understanding is:

- he is in Canada
- he set up his accounts in the UK
- the other day while in Canada he could download to his mobile (which I assume has a Canadian SIM) the UK FD app
- but he can't download the Canadian banking apps.

Weird (that he could still download the UK apps).

I called the Google Play store. Operator told me to go to Google Play and type an x and the screen would change. But it didn't so we gave up ...

I am in the US, with a US SIM and can download UK apps or US apps.

Thanks. So what do you think you are doing differently that's letting you do this? Any ideas?

Thank you!

I now have 2 accounts. In order to change country you had to update your google wallet account. Prices change into pounds and you will see UK apps. I did just use one account initially and keep swapping. There are pros and cons to both. With two accounts, I have to switch account to do updates, which also changes other defaults on the phone. The UK apps will come up under you account whether you are set to Canada or UK , once they are installed.

I just followed these instructions. You do need to clear the cache.

Change Your Country in Google Play Store Account -

OK thanks very much. I have never added a CC I don't think but I will check.

I will try and report back.

Try adding the UK CC, that might help.

The other option is just downloading the app from outside the appstore. It will still be signed and receive updates, etc. You'll have to do a bit of poking around to find a reputable APK sites that hosts the file, I googled and found a bunch but can't vouch for them (my regular one I go to didn't have it)... but that might be the easiest option if the CC route doesn't fly.

Please can you explain what these sites are and why they might be hosting the file for me to download. I found it here:

first direct Banking on the go Apk Download latest version - com.firstdirect.bankingonthego

but I have no way of knowing anything about the site or what I would be downloading.

Thank you!

I probably would not risk downloading a banking app from an unknown source.

That's why I said reputable. I usually use APKMirror as all their apps are signed and verified. I've had issues with other sites in the past and when I made my post i didn't have time to go vet the sites Google was returning.

Another thought i just had... Snowy, did you have the app on your Android phone in the past? Or is this the first time you're trying to install?

Okay, do the CC option then and see what that gets you. :)

remember to clear that cache. If you don't do that the playstore does not change country.

I'm sure I did that but I will try again.

Thank you!
