Re: First Direct banking on the go app

So I created myself a UK gmail. It shows on my phone along with two other accounts. I select it and go to the app store but it says incompatible with my Device (Moto G3 on Virgin Mobile and Virgin UK dual SIM). It actually says Bell Moto G3 this item cannot be installed in your Device's country. So it's picking up I'm in Canada. However, this contradicts with what the alohavic was saying (as he can download the FD app but not the Canadian ones!

It might be something to do with Bell (Virgin Canada)??

Thanks if you have any idea!

I am having the same problem in reverse (in the UK, trying hard to install Canadian banking app). Did what Gozit said with Google account, neither works, both INSIST that I am in the UK.

I have read somewhere that you also need to set up a new payment method appropriate for the country you are trying to be in and buy something, not yet done that using my Canadian credit card, but maybe my next step.....

Whether we have sold our UK house or not, we will at least be visiting Canada in September, so might try again then.

Ok, so if you go into Google play, click on the hamburger menu (top left), what do you see?

This is my screen, the top account is my regular (Canadian) Gmail, the bottom is my Malta gmail. Since the Canadian one is on top, it is currently selected. Selecting the Malta one at the bottom will switch me to that account for the play store only, so i can download/update any Maltese apps on my phone.

Thanks ☺ I've got the same (UK one selected) but it still won't let me do it. Could it be something to do with my computer and tablet as I haven't changed anything on those only on my phone.

You have to change the play store account to a UK account or temporarily change your existing Google account to the UK. I have multiple UK and US apps on my phone. One good thing, once they are on your phone they tend to just update. I think iPlayer gave me some problems once or twice.

google is your friend

Ahh....now that i look at it, I have my Maltese visa card on the account. Whoever said you may have to add a payment method might have been spot on. Do you have a UK credit or debit card?

And when creating the account, you selected UK in all the region dropdowns correct?
It wouldn't matter what you changed on your tablet/laptop.

Try those, but it also just came back to me that I created that account while i was physically in Malta.

Now, you could use a VPN to be physically in the UK.

OK thanks I'll try these things over the next few days. I'm determined to do it somehow. Should have done it while in the UK but I didn't think of it. I'll report back.

The first thing I thought of on this thread was wasn't there a VPN equivalent for this?

Once you have change the settings you need to force stop some of the google playstore services on your phone. There is probably an article somewhere on which ones need to be stopped
